Setup, usage, and how to get help.
Getting started
- Launch Last Tab. A short onboarding window walks you through setup.
- Enable the extension:
Safari > Settings > Extensions, check "Last Tab".
- Turn on
Safari > Settings > Advanced > Show Develop menu, then
Safari > Develop > Allow JavaScript from Apple Events.
- When prompted "Last Tab wants to control Safari", click OK.
Using it
- Option + Tab — hold Option, tap Tab to cycle recent tabs, release to switch.
- Shift + Option + Tab — cycle backwards.
- Option + S — search across open tabs, favorites, and tab groups.
- All shortcuts are rebindable in the app's Settings window.
Troubleshooting
- Shortcut does nothing: confirm the extension is enabled and
"Allow JavaScript from Apple Events" is on.
- Already-open tabs don't respond: use "Reload all Safari tabs"
in onboarding once, or reload the tab. New tabs work automatically.
- Cycling spans the wrong windows: change the scope in Settings
("Current window only" vs "All Safari windows").
